i actually gotten the seatguru tip before and checked the seat configuration for my type of plane/airline , for some reason the configuration / seatnumbers dont match the ones on the airlines website
still the ideas in the video are good , im going to at least try them , im flying to thailand in the middle of tourist season so theres a pretty big chance that the flight will be overbooked , who knows theyll bump me up to business (i have a no but might get a yes if i ask )

That is not true, I work in my pass 5 different airlines (United Airline, and rest international airlines) we do not like when people ask us free upgrade. And we can never gave anyone for free upgrade. Unless we oversold on economy and we have avilable business, even that time we offer to pax with loyalty program or who's fare ticket was higher. And booking middle seat is wrong advice I think, most pax don't even look until tgey get to seat, which surprises me and system gives automaticly seats. So if plane full, and you book middle seat, yoi will be seating between two pax for 9-11 hours of flight

I and my husband once got an upgrade. It was interesting, we were flying with a short flight before layover and then long, from Europe to Asia. We were told to get new boarding pass at a transfer desk and when we did guy said to my husband "are you traveling in business today? " we didn't get it and he replied "no, just vacation". Then we moved on and later found out our new boarding passes were business class. It was ethiad, perhaps?I don't remember. It was very nice experience and a complete surprise

I don't need hacks because I pay for business class always when I travel international. It's a good thing to be able to afford them.
This is such an incredibly informative video! I have most tried of the hacks mentioned ! But man middle seat is always booked at the last minute and we end up sitting apart from each other which is nice by the way until person sitting in the middle realizes he / she might have make a mistake choosing this seat

3:21 The ladies always say i look like Bond when i wear my suit. Will do then next time i go to Asia and ask for a business class upgrade. Hopefully it's not too much. $900 for one way.
Hope if i do bid and win they don't put me in the middle seat of business class 3 seat row. lol But it's better than economy i guess so no complaints.
And do not bring peanuts on plane as just the smell can trigger an allergic reaction in some people and you could be held responsible!

Thanks for sharing all this great info. I’m a shy person and it would never occur to me to just politely ask the staff if a free upgrade was available.

I would say don't get a special meal unless you really want/need it. I used to be vegetarian and the vegetarian meal would be not only veggie but gluten free, vegan, etc… They often make one meal to cover all intolerances. So not only do you get a vegan main course, but you'll get a fruit cup instead of a brownie. Like, I still like brownies, I just didn't want the chicken.

Thank you for the video, there are many interesting ideas here, but as a flight attendant we really dont like people who want to claim another seat or ask other passengers to change. Its not fair. If you want a seat- pay for it and dont cause inconvenience for other people. Its lack of consideration for others.

I actually got a free upgrade at the security gate with Singapore Airlines from Econ to Business class. I was the last man to cross the security check, when I handed my boarding pass to them, they scanned it and issued me a new boarding pass with business class, without even asking for it.
Mention not, Im their Krisflyer Club member and it was my 4th trip with them. I wasn’t even dressed super nicely or exchanged some sweet words, except thanking them.
Whenever I flew on airlines since the ‘90’s, being profoundly Deaf, the airlines always failed to have closed captioning provided on their tv seats as mandated by federal law. I was always upgraded free every single time to first class due to this lack of accessible accommodations.
The 1st 2 tips assume that nobody has already booked your preferred seat and they are still available. On longer flights, that assumes you would rather roll the dice for a seat or pay the up front seat charge for peace of mind. This is a risky strategy since flights are generally full.
If you have a middle seat, it is highly unlikely someone is going to switch. Bad strategy.
I did that they said no changing seats – this was with west jet – we were already in the air and there were so many empty seats …I guess there is bias
