15 drinks a week is heavy to you? β¦Okay.
I had to go in for surgery and the doctor said "if you have alcohol withdrawal on the table you might die due to the anesthetic". So I thought it would be a good idea to quit drinking a week before to see if that would happen (withdrawal). It didn't, or at least I didn't die. After 10 days in the hospital and 6 weeks on the mend, I thought there is no point taking it up again. I feel a lot better. But it does come with lots of changes. Lots of changes.
Alcohol cost Me the love of My life She will no longer speak to Me.
Alcohol is not worth it.
I gave up alcohol 5 years ago. No regrets.
you should have donated that booze to a homeless person??
so glad i'm sober. Life so much more rich. i quit smoking and alcohol went with it. Also stopped coffee at the same time. All the products out there are pretty toxic with pesticides and gmo's. I't's definitely a weapon against the population to weaken us. All of the drugs are to weaken us so the best revenge against the ruling parasite class is to be super healthy and strong.
You forgot "wet brain"…a form of dementia.
Who's this WE, doc?
Not you, I bet.
I drink two times per year
I have evolved off of my bigger drinking days, 90% down and I feel so much better. I can relate directly to some of Mark Manson comments, like a 2 day hangover recovery process, up from 1 day in my youth. One tip for current drinkers: take 2 Advil with your first beer, your hangover will be lessened by 50%.
I thought all the bottles were for the month , I think I have a problem
Good for you, Mark!
yes
I stoped about 18 years ago. Was never a alcoholic, but over did it. Now for the last 14 years i pastor a church. God is good.
I gave up ten years ago. I told myself Iβd stop for two weeks, but I liked sobriety so much I never went back. Try it sometime. You might just surprise yourself πβ€
Quitting drinking leaves one with anxiety/panic attacks then you need a pill to deal with that
Iβm a new subscriber. Loving your content!
I would party drink Monday – Monday. Got a DUI, lost my class A. And it set me straight. I just collect bottles like moet, cliquot, 1942 , clase azul.. and Iβll take a shot every once in a while, worked my ass off got my class A back. π― been since 2018.
now clean over a year, canΒ΄t stop being sober π
How aren't we doing better neither in philosophy nor in mathematics…? Being this positively minded? Big philosophers drunk. Nearly all of them we know about
I quit to stop paying for it, its such a waste of money.
Quit and joined the gym, turns out, booze hides abs ππ€
Stopped 8 years ago and life gets better every year. I did all I needed to do with it
I was having probably 30-50 drinks per week, and could usually wake up without a hangover. I did have chronic fatigue and brain fog, and could not lose weight. In Wisconsin, i was not considered a heavy drinker. Coming up on a month sober, i am repulsed by going back, and have enjoyed many, many benefits. This is one of the best choices i have ever made. I really like your point about the social stuff. Most of the people at the bar arent your friends, they just happen to drink the same place you do
Do you give plumbing advice please?
What you are showing there is not heavy drinking, but moderate. It's roughly equivalent to 1 oz pure alcohol/day or less than 3 oz liquor or 200 ml wine. P.S. I read your comment acknowledging this after I posted, but even increasing the quantities by 50% doesn't qualify as 'heavy drinking'. There should be ZERO problem not drinking a few days or stopping altogether from that level, as it's highly unlikely to be addicted (ie be an alcoholic). Now, double or triple that, say, from 4oz pure alcohol and up, than you get into the red zone where quitting may be difficult. But the issue with drinking everyday, even small quantities is that it makes you less active (especially if you drink early in the day) and enjoy eating more and THAT's the reason you tend to gain weight and have other problems.
