I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU for actually replying to so many comments on your channel. Unlike other Menopause/Hormone channels, where the doctor or expert just gives standard answers like, "seek advice from your MD" or "thanks for sharing your experience" without giving any constructive advice. Even if it's general advice, not tailored to the individual, at least answer the question to the best you can. ONLY you do that from what I can see. SO THANK YOU!
If im sleeping ok and have had hysterectomy, can i justbtake Estradot patch and no progesterone?
great experience with progesterone… helped with insomnia on the 100. mg dose but when up to 150 mg unable to control bladder… and NEVER EVER had a problem with it before
progesterone
I want to use HRT but the progesterone/prometreum makes me very depressed. crying, etc. My menopause symptoms are mostly very itchy skin, hot flashes, looking old, hair falling out…not sure what to do?
I am taking progesterone tablets and it gave me high mood swings, anger, cry irritation
Talk about CYCLING progest. We’re not supposed to have the same levels all month long. It’s unnatural and of course it throws us off. Supposed to cycle it
Micronized progesterone made my hands and feet swell and itch.
Estradiol patch had been a lifesaver but now they want me to try norethindrone since I have a uterus and need to protect the lining. I’m really nervous I’ll have a reaction again or swell, bloat or gain weight. Do you find women don’t react as badly to this synthetic progesterone?
I felt terrible mood and physically exhausted during my 4th pregnancy (at 40) felt so much better after birth, then got a marina IUD and felt like total shit again, sweating just from taking a few steps, burning and inflammation in my back and extreme pain and more… I don’t know for sure but I suspect progesterone intolerance.
All it took for me to sleep thru night was estradiol cream. No progesterone so I suspect low estrogen stops us sleeping not Progesterone? I do have progesterone intolerance all my life. Likely not in literature because not studied women have reported it for years! I suspect the divorce rate is caused by menopause as some women take it out on husbands! I use to simply take it out on my self as it was for me only 3 day thing plus after child birth thing I lived with it. My only daughter responds the same.
I cannot tolerate oral progesterone. It gives my gastritis…I am a bariatric patient, so def didn't need that. I am now trying vaginal suppositories to protect the uterus. If these don't work out, what else is there? I am on the estrogen patch and have my uterus so I know its essential to keep from getting uterine cancer. I use an online provider and she said I am the first person she has seen that cannot tolerate oral progesterone, so the suppositories were the one thing they knew we could try so I don;t have to get an IUD
I'm definitely intolerant to progesterone. I'm 26, had debilitating pmdd for years that was almost entirely fixed by taking ethinylestradiol/drospirenon (cycle that minimizes progesterone levels). I tried several birth control methods before this one, including a subdermal implant that gave off something that would metabolize into progesterone. The months with that implant were a living hell, I basically wanted to die the entire time. I'm quite nervous what will happen as I get older or if I have to stop my current meds
Was taking BHRT from Winona (cream) amd it resolved night sweats. But was still a bit low energy. Decided to try an estrogen patch and 100mg micronized progesterone. No anxiety or depression, but the CRUSHING fatigue is killing me. I wish there was such a thing as a hormone balancing specialist. Current doctor just wants to push Mirena. But i have NEVER reacted well to any form of BC. Not inclined to stick pokey foreign objects anywhere near sensitive female parts. I do NOT want any synthetic progestin. Feeling like ill never get any answers.
Progesterone has worked miracles for me
I’ve developed a tolerance to progesterone cream. Now nothing works.
5 weels pregnant after 2 miscarriages doctor give me progesterone, after taking i saw itchy throat and cough and also frequent bowel movement.. What should i do.
I litterly feel like you are telling my story! I am in the midst of trying to explain to my provider that the progesterone is not agreeing with my body and I have severe PMDD! She upped my dosage of Progesterone recently and it sent me into a depressed state that I have never seen. I desperately need help. How do I contact you?
Hello Dr,
Where can I get the natural bioidentical progesterone? I’m on 5 mg norethindrone for dysfunctional uterine bleeding. I’m seeing the Dr. on the 19th of December. Is this a prescription she can write me? I cannot tolerate this synthetic norethindrone another day. It’s ruining my brain and well being, every day is doom and exhaustion severe cramping, shaking, brain fog. I am 45. I need this medicine because the non stop bleeding comes and goes, I needed an emergency D&C even.
Thank you
Mi name is Monica Hernandez and I recently found out that I am allergic to progesterone. Twelve years ago doctors diagnosed me with endometriosis and put me for over a year in an induced menopause. During that time I took 4 pills, each of them drive me crazy, I had 23, but after I stopped to take it I come back to be myself, but the last pill was medroxiprogesterone, when I finished to take that one, I never come back to be me, that was the hardest pill and I was able to take it only for three months. I had a very good memory my whole life and after that pill I couldn't even remember those three months. I felt incapable to learn anything during those three months and I am talking that before I studied nuclear physics and I graduated with honors. After I finished with that pill for the next twelve years I keep having the same symptoms every month around the same period of time and I knew was related with my period but doctors said was premenstrual syndrome. I change I feel myself at the beginning of my periods and after ovulation I was as a different person. I had migraine my memory my ability to learn I felt like crazy. After 10 years I started to have issues with my beings, I have two laser ablation in my legs two stains in my back, and in 2023 I had a partial hysterectomy for inflammatory pelvic syndrome. During all this years I keep complaining with the doctors about how I feel every month I had liquid retention and so many symptoms that sometimes I didn't want it to live like that anymore. My life is still a nightmare and doctors keep doing blood test and telling me that I was healthy and young but I didn't feel like that. I even went to therapy, anything that can help me, my gynecologist keep telling me that wasn't my ovaries keep sending me to different specialists that they didn't founded anything and at this point every time I go to see a doctor after 12 years I just break and cry. I been fighting with this and keep saying that I was sick until a couple of weeks ago. Oh I forgot after the partially histerectomy my symptom get better I gained control over my emotions
I pointed that to my gynecologist but he didn't want to take the other ovary because I am 35. The ovary that I have is not working 100 % and I get small cysts and I had to start to take estradiol 2mg and the endocrinologist told me to take progesterone for my sleep issues. I tooked one day and after one pill I had the same annoying symptoms that I get every month after my ovulation even the rash. I went to see my immunologist because occur to me that perhaps I could be allergic to progesterone. They put me before in different contraceptives pills and I never was able to take it for more than two months, but I was tolerating the stradiol along and the progesterone only one pill and put me in the worth day of my month. Anyway I went with her she run and allergy test I hit positive, she makes me take a progesterone test when I am fine and when I am sick a couple of times and every time that I am sick my levels of progesterone are high, matching with the second part of my cycle. So after 12 years finally I got an answer. I am scared now because I still need to present the results to my gynecologist and I don't trust in him anymore and I do not know what to do. I took different contraceptives pills before and I couldn't handle they side effects I think that in my case take the ovary will be the best since I only have one, that hurts a lot every month during ovulation because the cyst, and drive me crazy but they only talk about the negative consequences of the menopause, my age and at the end I feel that I don't have any hope to get better and I am scared for the sleep part. I didn't found any endocrinologist that actually helps me even my told me that the allergy to progesterone was rear that he wouldn't know how to prove it. Anyway if you can help me somehow I will appreciate a lot. I am sorry for my English my primary language is Spanish.
Progesterone makes me depressed

Hello and thanks for all the information. Unfortunately, I get vaginal yeast infection when I take progesterone (utrogestan). Has anyone else had this problem, why does it happen, I wonder
I have been taking .05mg estradiol and 400mg progesterone for 4 months now and I’m still bleeding. Should I increase the progesterone? I’m postmenopausal.
I'm having severe urticaria due to progesterone…. what is the solution doctor please help , I'm 50
Im 52 my OBGYN is putting a progesterone iud in me as i have skipped 7 menstrual cycles in 2023 – 2024. However November 2024 i had an extremely heavy period that sent me to the ER. They found i have 2 small fibroids and said i could have a hysterectomy. Made a appointment with ob to schedule hysterectomy but she says she wants to insert a progesterone iud that will make peiods lighter or even stop them. I have 1 aura headache a year. I was told you cant have any hrt if you have aura headache cause you can have a stroke? Also i have a small pfo (hole in upper chamber of heart) but cardiologist said its too small to close… UNLESS i ever get a blood clot. I also read PFO causes air bubbles to float around in bloodstream and can cause aura migraines.
Im so confused on what is safe.
So, I was on Everol Conti, it’s worked until after around 8 months hot sweat and other symptoms appeared again, also, even though I hadn’t had a menstruation for 18months from starting my HRT, I started to have a monthly bleed and this didn’t stop, I had a biopsy which was clear.. I changed my HRT to Estrogen gel and progesterone pil 100g, bleed had stopped but I am feeling extreme emotion and suicidal ideations. I didnt have this symptom with Everol Conti. It’s such a hard place to be and wasn’t coping well with menopause symptoms. I’m coming back as a Cat in my next life!
Conti, but I did continue to bleed and it seemed to
Pla
A doctor on here said that progesterone kills the estrogen receptors…that makes no sense. Is this true? I’ve been on progesterone for months and just started estrodiol patch , so if progesterone kills the receptors what’s the point then
Do these side effects go away
I have had PMDD since my early 30’s. I have just recently started HRT with the estrodil patch twice a week and 400 micro of progesterone. Last month for the first time in my life I thought I was going to have to check myself into the hospital because I really thought I was losing my mind. I also have had severe memory issues. And every important person in my life has told me I’m “different” even my niece who is 6. So there is obviously a problem.
Is progesterone appropriate for a 67 year old post menopausal woman
I had severe dizziness and lightheadedness with oral micronized progesterone. It lasted until 6 pm the next day. I never had any mental health effects, nor any PMS mood changes or PMDD in my past. Switching to progesterone SR capsules BID has fixed that.
Can a progesterone of 800mg everyday increase anxiety? I am feeling anxious very anxious since the time my progesterone supplements have been added
I have Sheehans Syndrome and have been on 100% replacement estrogen stickers for 35 years. I am 62. Last week a new GP prescribed progesterone. On the first night already I was nauseous, eoke up with headaches, and snored so badly as my throat felt thick and heavy. Next morning I eoke up with that panicky feeling in my throat and I was barely functioning. I did not care about anything, could not do normal tasks, and felt off-balance. I also had a rash on my stomach. Never again will I take progesterone.
I am on micronised Protestan and etstrogen spray. I suffered quickly on oral progestan and now insert half dosage every second night . This appears to be working although have noticed sore gums and ears
Progesterone cause hair loss, gives me bad sleep and water retention. I prefer progestin
I’m taking 100 mg of progesterone at night it helps me sleep it’s a God send I couldn’t sleep only about 3 sometimes 4 hours!! The only thing is I noticed I’m getting some pimples no other side effects
Progesterone helps me sleep
What a blessing this video is!!!
Almost immediately got severe anxiety, panic attacks, irritation 10/10. I sleep max 4 hours total plus waking up 4-5 times a night.
Literally hell
Thanks for this. I've had PMDD and I'm also estrogen dominant and have endometriosis. I tried 200 mg Prometrium a few years ago to try and help with the endo. It did significantly reduce the period pain, and helped my sleep, but my PMS symptoms were much worse so I discontinued. Now I'm 51, in perimenopause (still getting periods regularly, still high estrogen), and I"m taking 75 mg oral bioidentical progesterone. I feel my PMS is very bad again, last month more like PMDD. I was wondering if it's the progesterone. At this dosage it also doesn't help me sleep. I can't get more than 5 hours a night.
I have bizarre mood swings, dizziness, nausea, PMDD, depression, intrusive thoughts. The internist and gino suspect endometriosis as I also have raging pain during ovulation up until I start bleeding. I am often anxious and faint, sometimes sleep way too long and cant function, so I basically function like normal person only 7 days out of the entire cyclus. I'm sporty person, 34, skinny, i eat healthy I dont take sugar. I used to never get sick before 3 years ago, now my immune system falls apart every ovulation. I get fever flashes and inflammation that hurts and spreads to the lower back. Sometimes my chest hurts and I have trouble breathing. What kind of contraception or hormonal therapy do you suggest? I keep going from doctor to doctor and no one takes me seriously. One doctor gave me pills for insulin resistance for my PCOS.
My wife is on hrt four years but suicidal thoughts few days ago what causes that?
I’ve heard topical is best and that there may be a progesterone kick back and then you’d need to take larger dose. Thoughts?
I think bad reactions to progesterone have to do with the estrogen detox it creates. Correcting thyroid function first would help balance hormones and help the liver detox estrogen better. Then they could get better effects from progesterone
Omg – I had terrible progesterone intolerance for 18 months when I first started HRT. I was told to take 200 ml oral progesterone for 14 days of the month and I went into a severe depression and cried every single day for 18 months, and I had no idea that I was causing this to my mental state until I read someone else’s experience on Reddit. I thought I was just having a dark night of the soul, and I also couldn’t figure out why I was so angry (I wasn’t angry at a specific person – just had rage inside of me). I’ve never been depressed in my life, but progesterone altered my neurochemistry so much that I signed up for an ayahuasca ceremony – and multiple other ceremonies to try to snap myself out of the depression. Once I read about another woman’s depressive experience on progesterone I stopped taking it and the clouds parted and I became my old self again. Now I’m just angry there’s so little knowledge about women’s health that I had to needlessly suffer for so long. I feel so bad for others who are doing the same as they are just following their doctors advice to take the progesterone and end up with a terrible reaction that they don’t connect to that hormone. I know we have to take it if we are taking Estrodiol, but I’m told that if we can take it transdermally, we can get it in lower doses and it will bypass our liver so we won’t have such strong side affects.
If you haven't done the research and know what exactly Progesterone and Estradiol is then don't go near hormones. And if you haven't optimised your health and changed lifestyle to an extent. And improved gut microbiome don't complain when you have side effects. And you should not take Progesterone orally.
If women aren't taking a high dose of Magnesium Glycinate at night you are going to sleep well.
I cannot trust you. You LIE about progesterone. You lie lie LIE!!! You proselytize the religion of progesterone. You are ONE WAY ONLY about it. So you are hurting and gas lighting heaven only knows how many women. ALL WOMEN DO NOT NOT NOT NEED PROGESTERONE !!! Give it up!!!! I am not weird. I am not rare. You are asking questions to get material for more coercive lectures. Progesterone does the following to me: insomnia, voracious non stop appetite, pain all over, cognitive impairment, overwhelming depression, constipation that is intractable until the progesterone is stopped again. Taking progesterone in HRT was worse than the progesterone phase of my natural cycle. Back then I would be completely constipated, even for a week, until the period started, then had a massive "catching up" that put me out of commission. I dint know why you push so hard for progesterone. You refuse to give any intellectual space to the possibility what I describe is true for so many women. You make money off your book so you must have a vested interest in progesterone being universally needed. I cannot trust you.
I am 54 I was having problems with progesterone and I started taking through the vagina and I have been fine!!!
Nooooooooo!!!! It is awful!!!!!
