I'm visiting this year and genuinely excited to go to the Grand Ole Opry.
I remember going clubbing in itaewon on homo hill…not sure if they still call it that. But it was crazy crazyyy packed but sooo much fun. To see it empty like that is beyond wild
I played in a Korean rock n roll band in many of the clubs on Hooker Hill in 1968 – 1970. Our band (The Devils) actually became quite famous in Korea.
Me and some Friends travelled to Seoul few weeks ago, our airbnb was in Itaewon, instantly fell in love with it. We went partying once, very cool people, mad party, vibe was just good. The street, where all the bars were, like Waikiki, Pose etc was full, but only on the weekends. Also saw the spot, were the incident happend, very tragic. I hope, when I visit Seoul next time, Itaewon gets back to the old glory, I want to experience it. Really fell in love with South Korea, decided to marry a Korean woman, so I have a home and a family there lmaooo jk
Love from Switzerland
I was stationed north of Seoul from 1990 to 1991. Toward the end of my time in Korea I spent many weekends exploring Seoul. I went ALL over Korea, from the DMZ (not just Panmunjom) to Pusan. Itaewon was so different then. I was only there a little less than two years. I remember drinking at the Grand ole Oprey. It was so surreal to be in a place that looked and sounded like home. Thank you for your great video. Brought back so many great, as well as sad, memories. Blessings to you.
Kamsahamnida. Korea be very proud of yourselves. From the Korea War a War torn nation and all through the new millennium one of the top 12 economies in the World. A huge feat recognized by the World. Former President Obama said the World should refer to this example. Great people, great Korea. Kamsahamnida.
Hi, its been 9 months now. Do you have an update about the situation in itaewon currently? Has it gotten better
among the vlogs about Seoul, I like yours most.
Amazing videos about life in Korea.
Uh, can’t wait to go to Korea next summer and I will spend some days in Itaewon this time around
As a foreigner, Iteawon scares me. I try to avoid it.
I will be visiting S Korea in October of 2023. Does anyone know if they give tours of Itaewon, explaining the history and visiting the location of classic bars of the 60's & 70's? I was in a Korean rock & roll band from 1968 – 1970. We played 7 nights a week in a lot of the clubs mostly in the "hooker hill" area. We became well known, and played on radio, TV, larger Seoul clubs including the original OB's Cabin, and at Citizens Hall. Our band was the "Devils". I was the only Amercian to ever be in that band. After I left Korea, they cut 4 record albums. In 2008, there was a movie released called Go-Go 70's, that was loosely based on that band. I haven't had the opportunity to visit Korea since then, and this visit was definitely on my bucket list.
OMG .. So sad .. May their souls rest in peace! I enjoy your videos!!! I'm from Boston, I'm learning about Seoul, South Korea – from watching KDRAMA during covid- lockdown. I love to visit Itaewon
Any ideas / advise? Darn those evil loud mouth Americans imposing their filthy values with their Hooker Hill and Homo Hill.
Bueno, por mi no hay problema irea seul lo mas seguro es que me hospede en itaewon . el pasado es pasado y lo que importa es el presente.
What’s the song at 9:42?
Im planning to go to itaewon for halloween now. Im hoping it doesnt happen again. If we go to that alleyway for halloween again then if it eacalates ill grab my parents and leave. Then ill tell them what happened before.
Tacos are definitely a first date food.
아마 홍대로 더 몰리나보네요
Awwwww I’m coming to Seoul in April of next year! I want to visit momma Kim! I’m from Oklahoma so Texas is right below us!
Question, why did she not let Koreans in the bar though years ago?
Is it because some bars in Seoul have signs saying no foreigners?
Ana could you make a video if you haven’t on bars that’s foreigners can’t go to? Is it solely on what you look like? Or if you can speak Korean you’ll be fine? I’ve always wondered. I’m not fluent in Korean but I have always wondered that
omg i haven't been to itaewon in YEARS, looks to be doing well. back then i only knew of itaewon because of dongdaemoon's street shopping district.
the emptiness reminds of some places in sanfransico, businesses would be open but no one is around. it's kind depressing. i loved and still love the liveliness of cities in south Korea and i would love to one day go back and see what I've missed.
thank you for sharing the video and bring back nastolgic memories of my time there
you can't just show me food like that! now my mouth is watering and i need to go to sleep ㅠ_ㅠ
SHitaewon.

Very nice vlog. You have done in wrong time. Your explanation is very crystal clear.

11:14 Cash is better anyways. It protects you from surveillance and paternalism.
