Also you should take into consideration the fact that being asian makes you sort of immune to the classic "hostility towards foreigners" that for instance people from african descent might experience there. You on the other hand don't stand OUT so much. The lookism thing is not based on your language, actual nationality etc unfortunately but solely on you physical appearance so you're lucky in that way to be asian looking while in an asian country in Korea.

I visited Korea myself too in august 1989. I stayed in Pusan, Chonju and Iri-city. I stayed with my penpal´s family in their houses. Unfortunately my residence was not that luxurious, but the impressions of my journey are still vivid in my memory !
